The new generation Chevrolet Trailblazer was unveiled in production form at the 33rd edition Bangkok International Motor Show in Thailand today.
Apart from the restyled bumpers and the new exhaust which is not incorporated into the rear fascia anymore, the Trailblazer retains pretty much everything else seen on the concept version presented in Dubai last year.
GM's new "haul-anything, go-anywhere" SUV is based on the new global body-on-frame midsize truck architecture which means it should feature premium ride comfort, good handling dynamics and superior off-road capabilities.
Its interior uses a 3-row architecture featuring fold-flat seating, with the car available in two- and four-wheel-drive configurations, and equipped with GM's new four-cylinder Duramax turbo-diesel engines.
These engines have 2.5-litre and 2.8-litre displacements and can deliver 150 HP (110 kW) and 258 lb-ft (350 Nm) or 180 HP (132 kW) and 346 lb-ft (470 Nm) of torque respectively (6-speed automatic transmission). These figures drop to 324 lb-ft (440 Nm) for the 2.8-litre engine when the car is equipped with a 5-speed manual gearbox.
The new Trailblazer will uses a five-link rear suspension and coil springs throughout, and some its active and passive safety features include ESC (Electronic Stability Control), ABS, Hydraulic Brake Assist, Traction Control, Dynamic Rear Brake Proportioning, Electronic Brake-force Distribution, Panic Brake Assist and Hill Descent Control.
